Deep Impact
Deep Impact is a lovely disaster film.
An enormous comet threatens to collide with the Earth and destroy all of humanity. What is important when everything is going to end?
This is not a masterpiece, but it’s entertaining, emotionally engaging and deeply profound at times. It brings us a dose of mortality awareness that helps us remember what’s really important in life.
One of our favorite scenes of all time (of all movies we’ve ever seen) involves a jaded news reporter (Tea Leoni) and her distanced father (Maximilian Schell) at the beach. You’ll have to see it to understand. We tear up almost every time we see that scene.
