Last of the Mohicans

This movie really captures the raw, original spirit of American independence.  It’s presented by director Michael Mann as a flesh-and-blood feeling of not living by anyone else’s leave.

An epic adventure and passionate romance unfold against the panorama of a frontier wilderness ravaged by war. Academy Award(R) winner Daniel Day-Lewis stars as Hawkeye, rugged frontiersman and adopted son of the Mohicans, and Madeleine Stowe is Cora Munro, aristocratic daughter of a proud British Colonel. Their love, tested by fate, blazes amidst a brutal conflict between the British, the French and Native American allies that engulfs the majestic mountains and cathedral-like forests of Colonial America.

Note: the original theatrical version is the best.  Those who’ve seen the theatrical version find other versions painful to watch.  The Director’s Definitive Cut on Blu-Ray is as close to the original theatrical version as we can find.
